the act of dressing is one of intimacy. to gently clasp a necklace onto one’s neck, to gently loop one shoelace over another to create a bow, to painstakingly do up all the buttons on their coat. ‘please be warm, please be safe’ our hands tell each other.
there is a quiet devotion in getting dressed.
